I was born in Birmingham and grew up in Homewood, just "over the mountain." I have seen my hometown grow dramatically in size over the years and I love and appreciate the area's history. The events and trends that have shaped the city and its neighborhoods fascinate me.

There is such rich history to Birmingham that at many folks aren't aware of. One of my early memories is watching the red-hot glow of molten pig iron being poured at night, back when Sloss Furnace was operating. Now it's a wonderful museum. I believe knowing local history is instrumental in realizing where we've been as a community and more importantly, where we're going, both city wide and on a neighborhood level. We have a great quality of life here that's part of our heritage of Southern values and real concern for our neighbors.

In College at Auburn University, my interest in people and places led to minors in English, History, and Religion before I ultimately majored in Journalism. It was in sales, however, that I found my lifelong career.

My first job was supposed to be as an 'editor' of a tiny, one-man newspaper in North Alabama, but it never came about after the sale of the business fell apart. On the rebound, I took a job selling imported Scandinavian furniture. I discovered I loved being able to make a living by working closely with people to help fill specific needs.

My sales ability and management skills ultimately led to a regional sales management and sales training position with "The Nature Company" before entering real estate in 1995. Since that time, I have earned several professional designations, including Certified Residential Specialist. Only 5% of Realtors meet the education and production requirements for this designation. I am also a Lifetime Member of the Club of Excellence.
